Casper, Chutes, and Champions: 20+ Years of Supporting College Rodeo

Each June, Casper, Wyoming becomes the proving ground for some of the most promising young cowboys and cowgirls in the country. Performance matters here. And it starts long before the gates fly open. As college rodeo teams train for the CNFR months in advance, our factory is equally hard at work—building the equipment that helps them rise to the moment.

For over two decades, Powder River has proudly stood behind the CNFR as the official equipment supplier. From Casper, Wyoming to arenas across the country, our rodeo-ready equipment has helped shape the next generation of rodeo champions. What began in 1998 with a fresh set of bucking chutes and timed-event equipment has grown into a full-fledged partnership rooted in preserving the Western way of life. As rodeo evolves, so does our equipment.

Our commitment doesn’t end at the arena panels. Each year at the CNFR, Powder River participates in special events like the Coaches Breakfast, where we help recognize the hard work and leadership of college rodeo’s mentors—including the announcement of the Coach of the Year.

We’ve seen some incredible athletes come through the CNFR—names like Kaycee Feild, who once rode in this very arena on his way to becoming one of the most decorated bareback riders in history. Champions like him didn’t just pass through—they helped define the standard. And we’re honored our equipment was part of their journey.

From the early days of timed-event boxes to today’s Pro Rodeo Bucking Chute System, Powder River has evolved alongside the CNFR. This year, we’re rolling into the 2025 CNFR with our all-new Pro Rodeo Bucking Chute System—designed for speed, safety, and the kind of toughness college athletes demand.

We’ll be back in Casper this month, just like we have for over 20 years—standing behind the chutes, behind the athletes, and behind the future of rodeo. Visit the 2025 CNFR, taking place from June 15 to 21, in Casper, Wyoming.
